Throwback Thursday!

Howdy Paper Crafters!

Today I came across a card I made with a retired stamp set but, i really like the fold so I decided to post it anyway because I know some of you probably still have the stamp set. I'm calling it  Throwback Thursday.  If you like the idea of doing this occasionally, leave me a comment below. For now, here it is.

This is called a side step card for those of you who have not seen it before. Ok, here's another view from the side.

Isn't this just the cutest? I just love the stamp set and the fold. Together they make a pretty cute card.

So here's how it's made. Using the template below, cut and fold your card as instructed from Pretty Pansy card stock. Keeping in mind the "M" is for mountain fold and the "V" is for valley fold on the template. Solid lines are for cutting and dashed lines are for folding. Pretty self explanatory.

I cut the designer paper (also retired now) 1/8" smaller than the panel on the left.  That means it's 1-3/4" x 5-3/8". You can make this smaller depending on your personal preference. I used my Easy Glide adhesive to attach it.

Then I cut from Kiwi Slice cardstock 1 piece 2-1/4" x 1-1/2'  (front panel) and 2 pieces 2-1/4" x 2" (next 2 panels). I fringed one of the long edges of each piece with my Fringe Shears and trimmed the blades of grass I just created with my Detail Pro Shears. You could also use the Border Details Die to make the grass but, I found I cut too much off with that. Attach the grass pieces to the right side folds with your adhesive and trim if needed.

**Tip :  When using the fringe shears, score 1/4" at the bottom of one of the long sides. this will be your guide when you are cutting so you don't cut past that point.

Next, stamp your birds from the Chick Magnet stamp set or set of your choice in Black Licorice Ink onto Pineapple Smoothie Cardstock. Fussy cut them (pretty easy cutting) and attach Journey Wiggle Eyes to each bird with Journey Craft Glue.  When eyes are set, attach to your grass with Journey Glue Dots or Journey Foam Squares.

Last I added some left over Journey Sequins to represent flowers in the grass which I attached with craft glue. Although not used here, the Journey Bloom Time Sequins would be a great option.

Give this a try. It's not as hard as it looks. The template is below and let me know if you have any questions. It is not true to size but follow the measurements and you will be fine.  Feel free to leave some comments, I would love to hear from you.

Have a great day!
